Winston's Jewelers Proposal

Tomorrow is a big day for Oh, Sugar!  I meet up with a high end jeweler who  is looking to carry my cookies in his store for his clients to enjoy while shopping.  Their logo and signature colors are black and gold so I kept the designs clean and simple, highlighting details with sparkly sugar crystals, edible pearls and  metallic luster dust.  Below are the cookies for my presentation.  Enjoy - and wish me luck!

Love Bird Cookies

These love birds are for my dear friend Ryam, who's throwing a bridal shower for her sister in law (who is also a client of mine - see details of her camping wedding here).   The hostess's theme was lovebirds and she wanted a take on some nature inspired invitations.  I made a dozen based on her invites and they were, frankly, awful.  So keeping her theme in mind I searched for a simpler design that would translate better in royal icing.  Below are the results, which I'm much more pleased with.  Enjoy!

Cameo Cookies

So excited to share these beauties with you!  These cameo sugar cookies are part of a proposal I am (sloooowly) putting together to present to a high end jewelry store who is interested in carrying my cookies to serve their clients as they sip champagne while shopping for shiny baubles.  More to come on this one - Enjoy!

Cars Birthday Goodies

My friend Susan is throwing a Cars themed birthday this weekend for her little guy, Thomas, who is turning three.  She wanted a couple dozen cookies and cupcakes and gave me free reign to put something together for her.  I came up with a Lightning McQueen styled sugar cookie with a "3" instead of the original "95" he usually sports and some decadent double chocolate cupcakes with coordinating custom wrappers and picks.   Take a look to see the progression and the final products. The Lightning McQueen cookies were labor intensive, but I'm really pleased with the results!  I did a trial run to try and figure out if I could recreate the character in royal icing:

Some minor tweaks were made to the original prototype; nix the blue eyes, simplify the grille, swap out black headlights for white ones, and bling out the tires with black sugar crystals. And voila!  Below is the final product.

The cookies then got bagged and tagged with custom birthday labels and ribbon to be given out as fab edible favors  to party goers.

The cupcakes were less intensive, but still a great addition to her theme with the use of custom picks and wrappers.

Mardi Gras Cookies

Laissez les bons temps rouler. Happy Mardi Gras, all!  I baked up a batch of these fab New Orleans themed munchies as a surprise hostess gift for two different Mardi Gras parties my husband and I were invited to this weekend.  Louisiana, crawfish, masks, fleur de lis, and, of course, beads, beads, beads.  They were a total hit and I actually booked a couple of paying gigs off of them.  Enjoy!
