Pretty in Pink and Purple
More ombre effect on the cookies. I started with a pink royal icing base then gave a light spray with Wilton's Color Mist aerosol in purple and pink.

Play Ball!
I really do love my job. And I love getting a second chance to try out new ideas on past designs. Last year a client ordered a baseball themed dessert table for her son's bar mitzvah, which was our first foray into the major leagues:
Baseball: Strike One
And this is our sporty table from this weekend for a lovely repeat client and her daughter's softball team end of season party. Their team name "Purple Power" was reflected in the color palette and we had a great time coming up with new baseball themed goodies to flex our design muscles. Below are the pictures from the party. Enjoy!
Talk about a score! These three baseball helmets were found at the thrift store (originally red, dirty and scuffed) for less than five bucks a pop. A fresh coat of spray paint and some hand cut decals and voila! Team helmets! The perfect props.
Cotton candy cones.
Make sure you put yours out at the very last minute just before guests arrive or they will start to dissolve with any ambient moisture in the air, like ours did. I had to make an emergency cotton candy run to replace our soggy, sugary mess before the softball team arrived.
Personalized baseball card cookies.
I love these baseball cards of the girls on the team we created. I contacted the hostess and asked her for a short description of each player (skin and hair color, along with length and style). We packaged them up along with a sugar cookie stick of pink bubble gum and sealed them up with the team logo. Great take home favors.

This gum guaranteed less stale than the real thing.
These were a home run!

Nautical Baby Shower Treats
Oh, Sugar! was so thrilled to get a chance to do an assortment of goodies for a recent nautical themed baby shower at a beautiful home on the water in Balboa. Using traditional red, white and royal blue, the hostess wanted us to use these beautiful cookies by Jaclyn's Cookies as inspiration. We put our own twist on them, starting with these teeny tiny flag cookies for our triple decker baby cake. Check out all the sweet details below. Enjoy!
See? Really teeny tiny.
Top tier: Strawberry and cream cheese filling
Middle tier: Yellow cake and chocolate filling
Bottom tier: chocolate and vanilla filling.
In love with this sweet baby whale topper.

Chanel Birthday Party
Black and white and super chic; I LOVE this Coco Chanel inspired dessert table we set up for our client Connie's 30th birthday party. Connie is in the fashion industry and is a huge Chanel fan so she decided to treat herself for the big 3-0 and throw herself a Chanel inspired bash. We were thrilled to get the chance to flex our creative muscles working with the limited palette of black and white and just pearls, those classic double C insignias and Coco's signature camellia flower for inspiration. Below are all the pretty details. Enjoy!
The spread: We lucked out that our client's party room just happened to have this fabulous black and white wall to use as a back drop. Too perfect. Hard to see in the photos, but our table is covered in a tailored cloth of black quilted fabric to mimic those famous Chanel handbags.
The birthday cake: We used royal icing transfers to embellish this three tiered beauty and capped it off with a Chanel No. 5 perfume bottle cookie topper. I think this might be my favorite Oh, Sugar! cake to date.

UPDATE: When I came by the next morning to pick up our serving pieces, the table looked like it hadn't been touched all night. I was afraid there had been a problem when the hostess informed me, "It was just too pretty to eat. No one had the heart to mess it up!" Let's say she had left overs for days.
