Halloween Invites

Here are the sweet and simple Halloween invitations made for Baby Sugar's preschool friends. I picked up these baby pumpkins for $.69 a piece at Trader Joes and attached these home made invitation tags printed on regular card stock from Staples.  They are backed with spooky black and silver scrap book paper from Michaels, hole punched and tied together with a sweet black bow.  The invite is attached by inserting a simple straight pin through the satin ribbon and pressing securely down into the flesh of the mini pumpkin.  The perfect surprise to stash in a preschool cubby. Mr. & Mrs. Sugar!

Forgive me.  This is my super self-indulgent post. As I just wrapped up the Sangria and Spanish Lace wedding and am about to start designing a dessert table for an elegant fall wedding, it struck me that MY wedding was the first real event I'd ever planned.  So I pulled together some pictures to showcase our very DIY wedding done on a budget. We had about 65 guests at the charming Tivoli Terrace in Laguna beach, where the Pageant of the Masters is held.  Chocolate and robin's egg blue along with a sweet little vespa icon where the recurring themes. My husband loves all things motorcycle and I love all things Italian so it was the perfect marriage - pun intended.  So here's a glimpse of the real Mr. and Mrs. Sugar (albeit a little younger and a lot thinner).  I hope you enjoy the photos as much as I enjoyed taking a stroll down memory lane.

The most difficult part of the wedding.  Finding wedding shoes that weren't heinous.  These satin d'orsay Stewart Weitzmans had just enough glitz to get the job done (for about an hour before I had to kick them off).

Single ladies in the wedding party signed the bottom of my wedding shoes.  The first name to be danced off the sole is the next to wed!

Madeline Birthday Party

Ooh la la! Our super French-ified Madeline party was yesterday and it was tres fantastique! This was truly a collaborative effort with Ryam, the hostess with the mostess. She came with tons of ideas and inspiration found on the web (a majority coming from Kate Landers Event's gorgeous Madeline party - see it here) and had a hand in many of the creative details. Plus she is an Amazon goddess with a terrific spirit and great sense of humor (I'm a major fan, if you can't tell). So the whole planning process was a really enjoyable experience. The over the top kids' bistro room!  Ryam went crazy at Ikea and snapped up these yellow side tables for just $6 a piece, which was actually less expensive than renting and looked so flipping cute! Red and blue rental chairs and sweet floral centerpieces really set the stage of being in a Parisian cafe.
