I Love You to Alpha Bits

Trying to come up with fresh ideas for teacher's gifts at the end of the year is a little challenging.  Last year I totally blew it and didn't do anything.  I always give out cookies, so I thought about maybe doing Rice Krispie Treats.
And then I remembered these Froot Loops treats I did awhile back and tried to think if there's any teacher appropriate cereal out there that would work when it hit me - Alpha Bits!  Perfect!
I used the classic Rice Krispie Treats Recipe (3 tbl butter melted with 4 cups mini marshmallow and 6 cups of cereal), doubled the recipe and poured at all onto a greased cookie sheet.  I greased my hands and compressed the cereal goo to give me high and dense treat bars.
When cool I use a long sharp knife to cut into squares and managed to squeeze in 2 layers of nine treats in each of these adorable jars scored at TJ Maxx ($7.99! Total steal!) The came with chalkboard labels that I wrote our message on, tied them up with a fat yellow polka dot bow and voila! Teachers gifts!

Class Portrait Cookies

So it's the end of the school year and my big girl is graduating preschool and moving on to the wonderful world of Kindergarten.  To commemorate her graduating class, I worked with her teachers and asked them to have Abby's classmates draw self portraits for me to cookiefy and reproduce in edible marker.  Take a look at these masterpieces!  They are frigging adorable. They were pretty easy to reproduce as long as I kept the proportion pretty close.  I am in love with these and will do it again next year, but next time make two of each - one for the kids and an entire set for the teacher.  Enjoy!

Wreath in a Jar

Aaah.  It's that time of year again.  Time to come up with something to give those saints who take care of and teach my little one all day at preschool.  I came up with these cute "Wreath in a Jar" gifts to say thank you.  Super easy and super cute.  Take a look.  Enjoy!

Teeny Tiny Halloweenies

How? How did what started with me volunteering to bake seven (SEVEN) plain sugar cookies for a project at Baby Sugar's preschool Halloween party result in over THREE HUNDRED COOKIES?  I think I have some sort of cookie dismorphic disorder.  It all started out with these plain gigantic pumpkin cookies.  Then I added the facial features so the kids could do a little mix and matcheroo.  Seemed innocent enough...

Then I thought I should make the kiddos in her class a little take home Halloween treat.  Oh, and something for her teacher.  And the teacher's aid.  Oops - don't forget the nice lady who runs the school.  Maybe I'll bake them each a nice spooky cookie.  Nothing crazy. OOOOOR I could bake them each over a dozen mini cookies, package them in small mason jars all tied up pretty with an orange satin bow.  Yeah!  That's what I'll do!  And there you have it.  Take a gander at the madness.  Enjoy!
